Nufiwa is Not a Diet

Nufiwa is Not a Diet

Technically speaking, the word ‘diet’ simply means the food you eat. In American culture, however, the word ‘diet’ has come to mean following a restrictive meal plan in an effort to lose weight.

Some diets can be very beneficial if they are prescribed by a registered dietitian or a medical doctor. Others present a potentially serious risk to your health, especially fad diets focused on rapid weight loss (more than 1-2 pounds per week).

Research shows that fad diets can be effective at initial weight loss but are typically not effective at keeping weight off long-term. Our bodies react to dieting like they would to starvation: metabolism slows and food desire increases, making it harder to lose weight in the end.

In addition, fad dieters usually gain back all of the weight they lost plus some. Over time, this can really add up. For a 60-year-old woman who has been yo-yo dieting since her 20s, it might look like:

Even though she loses weight with each diet, her overall weight increases steadily.

Nufiwa is not a diet…it’s a lifestyle

If you are sick of dieting (and all of its questionable side effects), you are in the right place.

Nufiwa is not built around a short-term set of restrictions to promote quick weight loss. Instead, nufiwa encourages a balanced approach to eating that is both enjoyable and sustainable.

Eating nufiwa means that you ensure that the bulk of what you eat at each meal is nutrient, fiber, water-dense foods (at least 75% of what’s on your plate) while allowing for some (25% or less) non-nufiwa foods to grace your plate as well.

This flexibility allows you to maintain nufiwa eating (and all the benefits) for the rest of your life. You will experience permanent changes to both your health and your weight. And once you experience how fabulous nufiwa eating feels, you will never want to eat any other way.
